VARALAKSHMI STARCH INDUSTRIES (P) LTD is a composite and integrated unit engaged in the manufacture of starch, sago and all kinds of modified starches at par with international standards using Tapioca Tuber and Maize (Corn), and the largest producers of Tapioca based starch and its modified starches in India.
Its modern semi-automated plant (production capacity 250 MT per day of ISI certified Natural Tapioca starch & 150 MT per day of various modified starches) set a pioneering trend in tapioca starch industry in India and has imported machineries from Sweden, Germany and Thailand. For the first time in India, about 25,000 MT of its tapioca starch products were exported We have impressive list of leading industries and multinationals in the paper, textiles, food and adhesive sectors in their clientele. VSIL substitutes imports to the extent of 15,000 MT per year of modified starches in the highly sensitive white, map litho, executive bond and Xerox paper manufacturing industry.
VSIL has set up Bio-Methanation plants to generate 30000 m3 bio gas per day from Starch Processing waste water. This has led to reduction in Methane emissions to the atmosphere by capturing the Methane in Bio-digesters and the captured Methane is utilized for thermal applications and Power generation replacing HSD and Furnace oil and its associated GreenHouse Gas emissions.

VSIL has released exciting range of new products for the corrugation industry. VSIL is also embarking on a diversification to produce 400MT per day of Maize starch, and the plant would be on stream by June 2009.
Other upcoming products are pre-gelatinized starch (under trial), coating starch (under trial)for paper and organic glue alternative for PVA based glue.
